Have you ever noticed how no-one ever talks about what it’s like to be recovering from a Mental Illness? Is it something you’d like to hear about?
Little do people know, that we still struggle too. I am in the process of recovering from Anxiety and Depression, and I’ve noticed that no one ever talks about what it’s like “on the other side”.

The fact of the matter is; that when we feel ourselves getting better, we push ourselves aside and stop caring for our bodies. But, we really should be increasing self-care routines, and prioritising ourselves!
Do you know what it is that makes you feel relaxed? I find it’s beneficial to know how to love yourself in both a physical and mental way. I have really sensitive skin, and I find that I feel most loved by myself when I take care of my skin. What about you? What makes you feel cared for?
You see, it is not selfish to take care of yourself, in fact, it should be celebrated. After all, it was Ralph Waldo Emerson who once said that “The first wealth, is health.”

I was reading an article recently, that stated; 52% of people with Mental Health issues felt as if they were not part of their local community, and 42% were disrespected.
This statistic deeply disappoints me. Loneliness and isolation only discourages receiving help or self-care. We need to start normalising Mental Health issues. We are not aliens, we are valid members of society.
What will Poppy + Willow talk about?
Poppy + Willow will be a blog dedicated to discussing the lifestyle of people who are recovered or recovering from Mental Health issues.
My goal is that Poppy + Willow will radiate my heart, and a breath of fresh air amongst all of the struggle.
May Poppy + Willow be a place that lets people know that we deserve to be happy too.
We will embark upon this journey together. Discovering a fun and exciting lifestyle, with room to learn and grow.
Until next time,
Lil x
