Edward Bernays, the author of the book “Propaganda” states that;
“Politics was the first big business in America… business has learned everything that politics has had to teach, but politics has failed to learn very much from business methods.”
Trump saw a connection between his aim to be President and this book, and he discovered that in order to appeal he must cater to the users wants and needs.
Using Twitter, Trump was able to say whatever he likes, and frame his opponents however he pleases. Some people would describe this as “Fake News”.
“Propaganda” begins with “the conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society.” In other words “in a group of people are easier to influence.”
We now live in a society of post-truth knowledge, in which men like Donald Trump and Edward Bernays feed into while we all scream “Help, Help!”
Until Next Time,
