What do we seek in music? Is music more than just a detox from our world? What about the artists? What do we want to see out of them?
Besides the fact that we as humans, are always trying to seek security in finding the flaws in celebrities, are we trying to see something deeper from them?
A lot of celebrities, particularly musicians, are taking up careers in politics, and seeking to better the world in whatever way they can, using the platform they have.
Recently, I was in a class, and our teacher asked us, “What song do you think is the best out of all the songs written by female artists between 2006 and 2016?” If I was to ask you this question, you might answer with a Beyonce song, maybe Taylor Swift, some will say Lady Gaga, and I would have to agree. Though these are not actually the real answer to the question, Paper Planes by M.I.A is the real answer, these are all fairly accurate answers.
While there are so many amazing female artists out there today, let us talk about Lady Gaga for a minute.
Gaga’s songs have topped charts in many countries at many different points in the 2000’s.
Just this year Gaga and Cooper’s ‘Shallow’ topped the charts, and I’m not surprised! It is a powerful song!
In 2009, Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance‘, ‘Poker Face‘ and ‘Just Dance’ all topped the charts for weeks at a time! And in 2011, her powerful song ‘Born this Way‘ allowed insecurities to be embrace across the globe.
But what about her impact outside of music? What is it that makes her so inspirational?
I recently came across this source speaking to the relationship between celebrities and their fans, and how it can change the world. Gaga, for sure has a deep and personal relationship with her fans, as she speaks out on issues that affect herself and them.
Is it possible, that in an increasingly media-stricken world that celeb-to-fan relationships are growing even stronger than ever before? Is this changing our global culture?
