In 1913, Henry Ford invented the Assembly line to create a more productive workplace. He also was the first person the implement the 40-hour working week, changing our workplaces as we know it today.
For over 100 years we have had this 9-5 working scheme, and it has worked just fine. However, with the increase of technologies, our help is almost not needed in many ways.
Companies are now adopting flexible working hours and handing the power over to their employees with rostering. People are now able to work from their computers at home. Much to dismay, this way of working actually produces a better work ethic from employees, and makes for a much nicer working environment.
But it seems, old ways die hard.


Being able to work from home would be a dream, sadly I work in hospitality haha! Technology really has had an impact on literally every aspect of day to day life which I didn’t really realise fully until this week.
One of the articles I read mentioned how businesses that let their employees choose where and when they work has shown to have quite a few benefits

Machines usually work as a system that is consistent in operation of the way people would expect and prefer it to work. However, as a human’s mind is always expanding and developing through human-to-human interaction, machines can often become limited in innovation.
However, I do believe to an extent you are correct as the human innovation can often become lazier. Take the film Wall-E for example. This is a prime example of a depiction of our planet where technology has gone too far and an individual can no longer fulfil their purposes, ultimately affecting work ethic.
