Ideating my project: what on earth was she thinking?

Ideas in themselves are creative, whether we think they are or not. Being creative or creativity and artistry is not mutually exclusive. They fit well together and they feed off each other but are not mutually exclusive.

In the process of ideating my project, I was constantly trying to acknowledge that nothing on the internet is fully finished, and neither will my Digital Artefact.

The great part of ideating is that there isn’t a certain timeframe, and no fine-print. I add in new ideas that make my project better over time. And feedback is a huge part of that!

I started my Digital Artefact last semester, so I had a rough idea of what I wanted it to look like this semester. However, I did not have a niche for my project yet. The main thing that I was brainstorming was a niche for my project.

I spent possibly the first week of my project ideating the niche, when I finally came up with one — A motivational YouTube channel.

The second week I spent researching how I could prototype this. I looked at other motivational YouTube channels and found that none of them were acknowledging the real issue out there, in terms of motivation.

While people were needing affirmation, they also needed ideas. Ideas to help them get motivated to get out of bed and get stuff done.

I would define creativity as problem-solving, and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable. I wanted to incorporate this definition into my project. How could I help these people get motivated? — How could I problem-solve this?

I would say that my project is all about ideating in its premise. From curating ideas for my channel and my merchandise, to problem-solving for the following I hope to have.

  1. Hey Lilli! A Motivational YouTube Channel is great as there are so many different options and topics to consider for each individual video. As your DA continues to grow, your videos can evolve from motivational, to something else, with a focus on another aspect of your life, such as your Religion! I’ve seen your Q & A video and believe some more of those could be super popular as people who don’t know much about an aspect of you can grow to know you better and gain education from it! I think your DA has plenty of ideas to work with, I can’t wait to see it grow!

  2. Great to see you’re passionate about motivating people that may be struggling. I understand you need a lot of content to produce a youtube video and perhaps saying what comes to mind can only get you so far. There are websites linked below that may help with techniques to express your motivational attitude more fluently.
