Prototyping my Digital Artefact

My digital artefact has been a little bit of a crazy ride… Here is why.

There have certain steps that people have to reach or accomplish when tackling a project;

  1. Thinking
  2. Observing
  3. Defining
  4. Ideating
  5. Prototyping
  6. Making
  7. Breaking
  8. Remaking

This may not make sense at first glance. But when you look deeper, you can’t see any other way. Of course your first step is going to be thinking about what your project is going to be — common sense, right? But then you have to observe what the needs are in the field of area you are working in. Will your project fit. So on…

This has been most of what my Digital Artefact has been lately. When I first pitched my ideas, I had high hopes to create merchandise. Sadly, only after I had put in all the time, I realised it wasn’t a good fit for the entirety of my DA.

But this is what a project is all about.

It is about ideating ALL THE TIME! And prototyping what these ideas would look like in real life, and if doesn’t fit… REMAKE!

Because I was so late on deciding to change my idea, it looks like to content has been produced. I have videos filmed and edited, but not posted.

As far as the future hold for my project, I have no idea. But my main plan is to produce, produce, and PRODUCE.

  1. Great analogy about the process of creating prototypes and the steps in transforming a project. In what ways have you incorporated this process in to your own digital artifact? Perhaps a reference to your instance of prototyping may make the concept easier to understand. Also, are there any sites or examples you found in relation to creating a prototype?

  2. Hey Lilli! Great work on the DA. I love that you did not follow your original idea of merchandise but instead decided to take a different path. People can definitely tell if something is made with half a heart, therefore I’m glad you decided to alter your idea and put 100% into what you could. You are completely correct in that we are learning all the time. This prototyping phase of our DA was fundamental in ensuring that we test boundaries. Great work!

  3. I admire your confidence and motivation in pursuing whatever it is you want! Like you, I struggled with finding a topic or idea to focus on officially for the project, and I found that using pen and paper, creating a physical mind map, really helps to visualise and brainstorm any ventures you want to pursue, give it a shot!
